The news is just coming out that Buick's Regal will be making a return to the brand's line up. Produced by GM from 1973 to 2004, the Regal was at one time one of the best selling Buicks, offered in two and/or four door body formats. The most well known iteration of the Regal was the Grand National, a stock car that won several titles in the 1980s.

GM has been considering reviving the Regal name for some time. The company is turning to its European division, Opel, to produce the Regal, a model currently sold in China. Right now the Opel Insignia is sold across much of western Europe, thus GM is expected to offer a Buick version of that car by swapping out its grill and replacing Opel badging with Buick.

America's Sports Car: The Chevrolet Corvette

Corvettes are also created to be far simpler than the technical sports cars seen in Europe, which is one of the reasons they are cheaper. Due to their simplicity, Corvettes tend to be smaller and weigh less than sports cars manufactured abroad. The famous car designer Harley Earl was the person who originally designed the beloved Chevrolet sports car. He noticed that soldiers after the Second World War were bringing back European sports cars and that America didn't really have one. At the 1953 Motorama car show, the Corvette that Earl designed was finally unveiled to the shocked public.

The body of the car was originally made with fiberglass, which was brand new at the time. The performance of the car was similar to other Chevrolets produced at the time, but when Chevrolet released it with the first V8 engine in 1955, it became more powerful and therefore quite popular.

Since it was first introduced, there have been six different generations of Corvettes. The first version of the Corvette had about 290 horsepower and a relatively new fuel injection system. There were several options available to it, including power windows and a convertible top. The second version of the Corvette is also quite important as it was known as the Corvette Sting Ray and had four-wheel disc brakes. There are only five of these coveted models left in existence.

The Caparo T1 Really a Racing Car For the Road

The Caparo T1 has been called a Formula 1 car for the road, however as Ferrari discovered back in 1995 when it used the same phrase to launch its F50 model, creating such a road car is easier said than done. However anyone who encountered a T1 on the public road with its enormous rear wing, open cockpit and overhead air box could be forgiven for thinking they were actually at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Caparo T1 Really a Racing Car For the Roadthe Caparo T1 Really a Racing Car For the Road

The key to the Caparo's success is its lightweight design, as the lighter you can make a car the better it will accelerate, stop and handle. Certainly this was the mantra of Gordon Murray when he was designing the Mclaren F1 and that supercar tipped the scales at over 1000kg, whereas in contrast the Caparo weighs just 670kg.

The combination of low weight and a 3.5 litre V8 engine that is capable of producing 610bhp gives the T1 an all important power to weigh ratio of 922 bhp per ton, which easily trumps the Bugatti Veyron, however the Veyron will certainly carry you in significantly more style and comfort. By contrast, whilst the Caparo T1 does have two seats, the passenger side is very cramped and set slightly back from the driver's side so you will definitely need to choose your passenger wisely.

Lotus Elise 1600 CC

The New Lotus Elise 1.6 - Lotus have launched an new entry level, face lifted Elise. Designed to be frugal with a planet saving ethos. What happens when your dream car is about as much a reality as bumping into Lady Ga Ga in Tescos? Well it just becomes something you think about when you feel you need to escape the boundaries of your every day life. Not a bad a thing I guess, it gives us all goals and a place to aim.

Now let me ask another question. What if your dream car could actually become a part of your lifestyle? without you having to sell your organs. And no Lady Ga Ga won't be a part of this. Sports cars are designed to be lusted after, to be sexy and admired with their sweeping curves, powerful engines and exclusive price tags. On the subject of change, sports cars and the word 'affordable' don't tend to go in the same sentence, unless we're talking about old classics.

I'm not talking about a rusty old MGB but still an iconic British sportscar. The Lotus Elise. Now in its 15th. year of production the titchy fibre glass sports car offers an eco alternative to its pedigree of superb handling, race breed roadsters. The Lotus is made in Norwich, the same place as Turnips and Mustard.

This is the new entry level Elise, powered by its smallest engine yet. A 1.6 litre Toyota unit, coupled with a new 6 speed gearbox. This car is all about economy and at £27,000 offers supercar looks for sales rep saloon money. Now for the part that appeals to me. 56 mpg is impressive and must be considered a huge attraction with its 500 mile range. The team at Lotus have nick named this car the 149 due to its low emission output of 149g of Co2 per Km. I just think it's a nice way of saying 'yes we have the worlds most eco friendly petrol powered sports car. With the confidence of a reliable Japanese powerplant the Elise is kind of in its little world. Of course there are rival brands and models to consider but all of these lack the little Lotus's charm, lines and stunning drive. Don't think that the small engine makes the Lotus experience any less either. It doesn't. It will reach 60 mph in just 6 seconds and is capable of making you grin with ease. This new Elise handles, grips and snoggs the road like a teenage love affair, you could almost forgive yourself to think that winding roads and bends were designed 100 years ago as these industrial pioneers knew that someday a car would be built to drive around them without almost flat out.

Mansory Panamera

The over the top tuning firm Mansory has a long tradition of taking British sports cars and turning them into wild carbon fiber clad creations that make whatever aggression the car's design team incorporated simply seem weak. However after the shop's owner Kourosh Mansory came out with the Porsche Cayenne Chopster, transforming one of the German automaker's four door sports cars was the next logical step. So today, the Swiss aftermarket manufacturer is revealing the details about their upcoming customization program for the 2010 Porsche Panamera.

Mansory Panamera
Mansory Panamera
Mansory Panamera

The Mansory Panamera wears an aggressive body kit made from either a high strength polyurethane material (PU RIM) or very exotic and lightweight carbon fiber. Starting off up front the Panamera's snout is no longer smiling but instead snarling with its inverted vents on either side of the larger front air dam. The hood features a pair of Aston Martin like vents and a set of significantly blistered wheel arches to house the staggered 21 inch wheels with an especially wide set of rollers measuring in at 11.5 inch across in the back. The ground effects package lowers the car by about an inch and gives the GT car a much wider stance, like it is ready to pounce on whatever stands in its way.

The inside of the Mansory Panamera will be tailored to suit a variety of tastes. For the more genteel there is an offering of precious wood trim and fine varnish finishes or for the more modern day consummate driver dynamic carbon carbon fiber and aluminum panels will adorn the tuned Panamera's interior. However the sport designed steering wheel will remind the driver that no matter which package they choose, they are behind the wheel of a true sports car.
